GalGael

Our People

On these pages you can find out more about the people who make up GalGael. We owe much to the passion and conviction of a crew that go well beyond the call of duty. That includes our Board members and volunteers, of course, who give their time and expertise freely.

As George McLeod, founder of the Iona Community, used to put it, when he was a Minister in Govan, “only a demanding common task builds community”. Since our beginning, we have sought out just such common tasks. In so doing have found real community and have nourished and distilled the GalGael vision that unites us. You especially sense this on one of those days when it’s all ‘hands on deck’ and everyone is doing their bit to make it happen, whether it be getting the place ready for a special visit or a big project on a tight deadline.

Though we believe in traditional clan values like hospitality and fostership, and enjoy exploring the notion of kinship and extended family - that doesn’t mean we’re ‘clannish’, so we’re always keen to welcome all who share our values and vision.
