JOINING INFO

We’re glad you’ve opted to join us for this discussion group. Basically, we’ll share our experiences of the pandemic and the different lockdowns and explore together what this is revealing about ourselves, our communities and the world around us.

This is about your experience. So there are no experts.

To kick off our exploration, we’re inviting you to bring along an object, an image or a wee story that captures your experience of the pandemic or the lockdown.

We’ll share these with the group as a way of opening up our ongoing discussions. The discussions follow an outline developed by an influential Brazilian educator Paolo Friere. He was interested in liberation from oppression.

This project is running in partnership with Enough Scotland who question endless economic growth, and believe we have ‘had enough, we are enough and together we have enough’. The sessions will be facilitated by Dave Beck (my old uni lecturer and one time GalGael board member) and me (Gehan)!

WHEN:

Mondays at 2 pm (starting Monday 30 Nov) for 2 hours with biscuits or cakes!

WHERE:

Clyde Community Hall - 41 Whitefield Rd, City, Glasgow G51 2YB

On the corner from GalGael!

COVID-19 - PLEASE READ!!

It is very important that you DO NOT COME to the session if you have any of the covid-19 symptoms - a new continuous cough, high temperature, loss or change to sense of taste or smell. If you have any of these symptoms it is vital that you self-isolate and book a test immediately. The result of the test will confirm whether you need to self-isolate for 14 days or not. When you attend we’ll get you to sign a short declaration to confirm this.

While we’re together, we will sit 2 meters apart. We also ask that you wear a face covering during our time together indoors. Please bring a face covering with you. Please also be aware of wider Scottish Government/NHS Scotland guidance often summarises as FACTS, including maintaining physical distancing and regular hand washing.

NOTE - you have probably heard about the five tiers of restrictions that Scotland is applying to respond to the changing risks and levels of infection. The above measures allow us to proceed in Tier 3 (current tier applied to Glasgow). It is possible that if Glasgow is moved to Tier 4 that we will no longer be able to carry on at the community hall. In this instance we will delay the discussion group until we return to Tier 3 or the shelter GalGael are building in the yard is complete and allows us to gather outside.

If you aren’t within walking distance then Enough Scotland will cover the cost of a taxi to and from the Hall.
